| This is the e-mail I sent Dr. Jack Eby, concerning practice-related issues:
Dear Dr. Eby, I (Etienne) have been using Bandeen's practice rooms to work with my band on a regular basis. It's been very pleasant having a place where we can make plenty of noise without upsetting anybody. Unfortunately, I do not have the key to the building - only the key to the Skills room. My people and I have found ourselves locked out on repeated occasions. This can be rather annoying, especially on rainy days, and therefore I found myself wondering if it would be at all possible to get a key - or perhaps even two: one for Ilana, and one for myself. Moreover, one of our band members (Oliver Baldwin) has recently acquired a set of congas. Congas, as I'm sure you know, are rather heavy and voluminous, not to mention expensive. They are not quite as mobile as, say, bongos. For this reason, I'd like to know if we could perhaps get a locker. In fact, if it is no too much ask, we would like to get two; I do not think the congas would fit in only one locker - plus, we could use some extra room to store an amplifier, speakers and microphones. We need all this equipment because, as much as I like screaming, the human voice cannot simultaneously compete with a piano, a violin, a guitar (or two) and an especially loud percussionist. All of my bandmates are reliable, trustworthy people. Only Sam and I are currently registered Bishop's students, but the others are known to the campus community (Oliver is in Bishop's University Singers, while Chris and Ilana are both Champlain students). We would be ready to pay whatever fees related to these services. I hope you are having an excellent summer, and look forward to taking music history again in the fall (what is the class going to be, by the way?). Yours most obliged, Etienne Domingue, and all the good people of Doppelgänger. I didn't mention Jonah because I figured it would not do to imply our reliable and trustworthy tenor skipped highschool to practice with us. Homework: Try singing the scale backwards while playing it forward, and the reverse. Quickly now. Minor and Phrygian. Funny, eh? |
